Aki egyszer már megszokta a mosogatógép kényelmét, az tudja, mekkora érvágás újra kézzel mosogatni. Én is így voltam vele, amikor sok-sok éve kijöttünk Japánba és azóta napi szinten puffogtam is emiatt. Japánban még érdekes módon nem terjedt el a mosogatógép, csupán egy mikrohullámúnál alig nagyobb mosogató gépek vannak forgalomban. Az ok talán az lehet, hogy pici tálkákból esznek, plusz a háziasszonyok nagy része nem dolgozik, úgymond ráér mosogatni. Na meg az általános helyszűke. A konyhabútorba beépített mosogatógépről csak mostanában hallani, persze biztosan előbb-utóbb felfedezik majd. Mindenesetre Gábor végül megelégelte a napi szintű morgásomat és beszerzett egy lehető legnagyobb mosogatógépet, amit aztán nem kevés fáradsággal meg találékonysággal beépített a konyhába. A gép ilyen pici, a tányérokat is le kellett cserélnem kisebbekre, hogy beférjenek:
Everything is tiny - compared to its Western equivalent - in Japan, including dishwashers. Not many housholds use them, I have never seen a built-in one for example even tough it is supposed to exist. The Japanese cuisine uses little plates and bowls, also there is a lack of space everywhere and mostly the common situation of housewives not working full time and thus being expected to wash everything by themselves. I have been complaining about this ever since we came to Japan but the lack of space and the non-dishwasher layout of the extremely small kitchen didn't really give a hope for me. Still Gabor finally managed to figure out how to get one even if it meant to say good-bye to a big surface of precious cutting space. The dishwasher is so small that I had to buy new plates to fit in but still it is better than nothing.
